1.How fast will images be posted to the webserver?

The  image update  rate is determined by a number of factors, including image resolution, quality, camera synch delay and line speed. You can use our calculator to estimate the refresh rate. NOTE: The calculator does not take into account server lag, network lag, or competing network traffic.

2. How many cameras can broadcast from a single system?

You can put up to 4 Medusa 6C cards in a single PC for a total of 24 cameras. Each Medusa 6C card requires a PCI slot.

3. The image is reloaded, but does not change. How do I prevent the images from caching?

Most web browsers and proxy servers will cache a JPEG image. Thus, the image sometimes will not change even after being reloaded by the browser. To prevent caching, you should configure the server to send the following headers:

Expires: 0
Pragma: no-cache

If you can not configure the web server to automatically send these headers with the image, you can use a CGI. We have included a Perl CGI and an Active Server Page on the Medusa CD which will send the headers with the image. However, it is recommended to configure the web server (when possible)  to save on system resources.

4. Can I use the Medusa Webcasting software with my PC cam or video capture card?

The Medusa Webcasting software was designed for use with the Medusa 6C video card. It is not compatible with any other video capture card or webcam hardware. For information on purchasing a Medusa 6C video card, please visit the netSCOPE website.

5. What is the 12029 Error Code?

The 12029 Error code is displayed when the Medusa application can not connect to the web server. Usually, this means that the network connection is alive, but the web server itself is down or can not respond to the POST request.

6. What is the 12002 Error Code?

The 12002 Error code is displayed when a network timeout occurs during the posting of an image. Check the network connection of the PC running the Medusa software. Also, be sure that the web server is alive on the network.
